David Carlberg David Carlberg

David Carlberg is 100 percent Southern Californian, having been born and schooled (K-PhD) in Los Angeles and presently living in Huntington Beach. Now a retired microbiologist, David has held positions in both the private sector and academia. His last position was professor of microbiology at California State University, Long Beach. He is the author of five books; three are technical and deal with microbial genetics and environmental and industrial microbiology. Two, however, are aimed at the general reader. Biofilms and Dead Zones: the Microbe-Environment Connection looks at the enormously important role microorganisms play in the world around us. Just published, Bolsa Chica: Its History From Prehistoric Times To The Present is David’s fifth book. It focuses on the successful thirty year struggle by local citizens to prevent one of Southern California’s last and largest coastal wetlands to be transformed into an immense marina/residential development.
