OC PUBLIC LIBRARIES AND UC IRVINE LIBRARIES TO CO-HOST FOURTH ANNUAL LITERARY ORANGE

Best Selling authors Dean Koontz and Karen Joy Fowler to serve as keynote speakers

IRVINE, Calif., (January 19, 2010) – Orange County Public Libraries and the UC Irvine Libraries today announced that they are co-hosting the fourth annual Literary Orange on Saturday, April 10, 2010 from 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. at the UC Irvine Student Center. Literary Orange is Orange County’s premier literary event, where authors, passionate readers and committed libraries join together for a day-long celebration of literature in all its guises.

“We are thrilled with the caliber and depth of this year’s line-up of authors, starting with our fabulous keynote speakers,” said Paula Bruce, OCPL Assistant County Librarian. Dean Koontz is one of the best-selling authors of all time and an Orange County resident, and Karen Joy Fowler has developed a cult of admirers after the success of her Jane Austen Book Club novel and film. These two popular authors are sure to attract a lot of interest from the southern California community.

Literary Orange offers attendees and fans the opportunity to engage with an exciting array of authors, purchase books and have them signed, ask questions, and learn about the writing process. Over 50 award-winning authors will participate on 15 panels covering a variety of genres including Fiction, Non-Fiction, Mystery, Science Fiction, Journalism, Romance, Children’s Books, Graphic Novels, Memoirs, and Poetry, along with new panels on OC Noir, History, and Motivation. A continental breakfast, banquet-style lunch and afternoon refreshments enrich the day long experience.

“This is a fantastic event for the campus and community to come together and enjoy,” said the UCI Libraries’ Julie Sully, one of the event’s co-organizers. “As UCI and the surrounding region are becoming more aware and engaged in this dynamic literary festival, we anticipate an even higher turnout of devoted fans. And with the lower ticket price this year, they are getting a real value for their money.”

General admission for the event has been reduced to $60 per ticket, and students with I.D. are $25. Online registration is now available at www.literaryorange.org and further information and registration forms may be found at all Orange County Public Libraries and the UCI Libraries.

Sponsorship opportunities are available. For more information about Literary Orange or sponsorships please visit www.literaryorange.org or contact Michael Farino at 949-855-3555.
