Daniel Olivas Daniel Olivas

Daniel A. Olivas is the author of six books including, most recently, The Book of Want: A Novel (University of Arizona Press, 2011), and Anywhere But L.A.: Stories (Bilingual Press, 2009). Olivas is also the editor of Latinos in Lotusland: An Anthology of Contemporary Southern California Literature (Bilingual Press, 2008). He has been widely anthologized including in W. W. Norton’s Sudden Fiction Latino and Hint Fiction, both published in 2010. His book reviews, essays and fiction have appeared in many publications including the Los Angeles Times, El Paso Times, Jewish Journal, and La Bloga. Olivas earned his BA in English literature from Stanford University, and law degree from UCLA. Since 1990, he has been an attorney with the Public Rights Division of the California Department of Justice. He makes his home in the San Fernando Valley with his wife and son.
