Joyce Goldstein is a cookbook author, teacher, lecturer, and consultant to the restaurant and food industries. Joyce was the chef/owner of Square One in San Francisco, chef of the Cafe at Chez Panisse, and Visiting Executive Chef of the Wine Spectator Restaurant at the Culinary Institute of America in Napa. Joyce was voted Chef of the Year by San Francisco Magazine in 1992, won the James Beard Award for Best Chef in California in 1993, and received the Lifetime Achievement Award from Women Chefs and Restaurateurs of which she is a Founding Board Member. A prolific author, Joyce’s Back to Square One (1992) won the Julia Child and James Beard Awards for Best General Cookbook. Joyce writes “California Local,” a column for the San Francisco Chronicle.
